Founder, AfricaShowAm · Newport, Wales, United Kingdom
I'm a Cloud and DevOps Engineer by trade, the kind of work where you spend your day making sure systems that matter don't fall over. But AfricaShowAm didn't come from that side of my life. It came from something much simpler: watching African businesses, genuinely excellent ones, stay invisible to the exact people who wanted to find them.
I'm part of the African diaspora myself, based in Newport, Wales. I know what it's like to want something specific, a caterer who actually knows the food, a lawyer who understands both systems, a hairdresser who won't need three attempts to get it right, and to have no reliable way to find it beyond word of mouth and hoping someone in a WhatsApp group remembers a name.
On the other side of that same problem are the businesses themselves: real, working, often thriving businesses with no way to be found by the thousands of people actively looking for exactly what they offer, whether that's someone in Lagos or someone in London.
AfricaShowAm exists to close that gap. Not as an open, unmoderated listing site where anyone can post anything, every business here is checked, first by an automated review against real registration records, then by an actual person on our team before it ever goes live. That mattered to me from the start. A directory people can't trust isn't worth building.
The technical side, the verification systems, the search, the tools businesses use to grow, that's the engineer in me. But the reason it exists at all is simpler than any of that: African businesses deserve to be seen, and I wanted to build the thing that makes that actually happen.
